A brand is an image that controls a perception, it’s an impression, it’s a promise, it’s a personality, it’s a relationship; it’s about consistency and authenticity. A brand is much more than a label, slogan or logo. So many athletes (active or retired) feel that just because people know their name they are a brand and should be treated carte blanche. Many athletes reach fame, notoriety or recognition overnight and truly believe they are an established brand and will last forever. Many don’t understand that to become a sustainable brand like Pepsi or Nike - you have to think strategically and holistically.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It’s disheartening to see so many professional athlete make the mistake so early in their career only to leave the game broke, forgotten and struggling to survive. Being a good player or possessing extreme talent is not enough to survive the long haul. The event also includes principals participating in the Executive for a Day program, in which principals go to the offices of the business and organization partners associated with their schools to “shadow” an executive.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mr. Hickman was Master of Ceremonies at the Principal Shadow Day luncheon located at Twelve Atlantic Station. Participating leaders in the luncheon were Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed; Sam A. Williams, President of the Metro Atlanta Chamber; Dr. Beverly L.
